Guides and calculators · Tax year 2026/27

National Insurance calculator

Put in a salary and see what comes off the employee’s pay and what the company pays on top for 2026/27, including the employment allowance where it applies. That second figure is the real cost of the hire.

How this calculator works

  • Enter the annual salary you have in mind for the role, or the one you already pay.
  • Say whether the company can claim the employment allowance, which changes what the business pays rather than what the employee takes home.
  • The result splits into the employee’s deduction and the employer’s cost, so you can see the wage and the amount on top of it.

What it cannot see

It works from one salary and nothing else. It does not know about the pension contribution you will also pay, other staff already using the employment allowance, directors with earnings taken partly as dividends, or a start date part way through the year. It also says nothing about whether the work coming in covers the role. Those are the parts that decide whether the hire is affordable.

Check the hire against your own numbers

A few quick questions about the company and Crosby comes back with a recommendation. If there is a fit, he goes through your figures on a free growth review and says what the role costs once pension, PAYE and this year’s tax are in.
